Split N application and DMP based nitrification inhibitors mitigate N2O losses in a soil cropped with winter wheat

چکیده
Abstract Nitrogen (N) fertilization to crops might lead formation and release of reactive N—e.g. nitrate, ammonium, ammonia, nitrous oxide (N 2 O) —, contributing eutrophication, atmospheric pollution, climate change. Use nitrification inhibitors splitting N fertilizer may reduce the O emission from arable soils cropped with winter wheat. We tested different fertilizers treated 3,4-dimethylpyrazol phosphate (DMPP) succinic acid (DMPSA) by applying 180 kg ha ?1 in strategies a full annual field experiment on loamy soil Southwest Germany. A threefold split led an 2.3 O–N (corresponding reduction 19%) compared single application ammonium sulphate nitrate (ASN) ( p = 0.07). rate ASN DMPP resulted 1.9 reduced emissions treatment without NI 33%. Calcium (CAN) DMPSA during vegetation period 38% CAN inhibitor, but this was offset high after harvest, which driven tillage 26% (CAN: 2.9 ; + DMPSA: 2.1 0.11). Among our treatments, twofold efficiently maintained grain yield when traditional system inhibitor. Despite resulting lower protein contents application, should be further investigated as potential compromise between wheat quality optimization protection.

Influence of nitrification inhibitors on yields of arable crops: A meta-analysis of recent studies in Germany
Nitrification inhibitors (NIs) delay the oxidation of ammonium by soil microorganisms, maintaining a higher proportion of applied nitrogen (N) in the soil by preventing nitrate-N loss from leaching and gaseous N losses from nitrification and denitrification. Thus, a large number of studies have shown N fertilizers with NIs are more environmentally friendly. In contrast, there are only a lim...
متن کاملeffects of nitrogen application on soil nitrification and denitrification rates and n2o emissions in greenhouse
nitrous oxide (n2o) has significant impact on global warming and leads to the depletion of ozone in the stratosphere. agricultural soil is regarded as a major source of n2o emissions. in recent years, greenhouse grown vegetables have rapidly developed in china. although excessive fertilizer application in greenhouse vegetable production can result in increased n2o emissions, research data on su...
متن کاملNitrous oxide fluxes from cropping soils in a semi-arid region in Australia: A 10 year perspective
Understanding nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from agricultural soils in semi-arid regions is required to better understand global terrestrial N2O losses. Nitrous oxide fluxes were measured from three rain-fed, cropped soils in a semi-arid region of south-western Australia on a sub-daily basis from 1995 to 2014 using automated chambers. Western Australia’s grain-belt includes 7 million hectares of a...
متن کاملReducing nitrate leaching losses from a Taupo pumice soil using a nitrification inhibitor eco-n
The decline in water quality in Lake Taupo has been attributed to nitrogen (N) leaching from surrounding land areas. Pastoral agriculture has been identified as a significant contributor to this N transfer to the lake through animal urine deposition. There is therefore an immediate need for new management options to reduce N losses. The objective of this study was to measure the effectiveness o...

Hence the subject remains controversial, with a number of studies showing no cha...
